Greta Bellamacina is a British poet, actress and filmmaker.

In 2014 she was short-listed as the Young Poet Laureate of London and her poetry has gone on to be acclaimed internationally.

In 2015 she co-founded the independent publishing press New River Press with her husband the artist Robert Montgomery. New River Press provides a platform for new work by young poets in London and beyond.

In 2020 the renowned US publisher Andrews McMeel published Greta's poetry collection Tomorrow's Woman alongside a collection of feminist poetry she edited titled SMEAR. This saw her work reach a global audience and in the same year her Collected Poems was translated into Spanish and published by Valapaiso Ediciones.

In film, she released her activist documentary The Safe House A Decline of Ideas in May 2016 with Curzon Home Cinema. The documentary was a love letter to public libraries and a heartfelt appeal against their closure.

Her first feature film as a director Hurt By Paradise was nominated for the prestigious Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film and at the Edinburgh Film Festival, and for Best UK Film at Raindance. Hurt By Paradise had its UK cinema release in September 2020 and VOD release in February 2021. The Edinburgh Festival introduced the film as “Woody Allen meets Frances Ha in this is skilfully observed tale of friendship and family”. The Evening Standard wrote, “Bellamacina is as precise and bold as Joanna Hogg.”

As an actor she recently played the lead role in Jamie Adams’s new film Venice At Dawn, which premieres in autumn 2021. In spring 2021 she is set to play the lead female role in director Ulla Fudge’s 2021 film Ultra Pure, alongside Alain-Fabian Delon, and she is filming a part in upcoming new Sky TV drama to be announced later this spring.

Greta is currently working on her new poetry collection “Biography Of The Wind”.
