Greta Bellamacina is a British poet, actress and filmmaker.

Her first feature film as a director ‘Hurt By Paradise' was nominated for the prestigious Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film and at the Edinburgh Film Festival, and for Best UK Film at Raindance. ‘Hurt By Paradise’ had its UK cinema release in September 2020 and VOD release in February 2021. The Evening Standard wrote, “Bellamacina is as precise and bold as Joanna Hogg.”

As an actor she recently played the role of Cleo Watson in Michael Winterbottom’s, ‘This England’, Sky TV series. She played lead character Irene in both of the acclaimed, avant-garde Italian film director Riccardo Vannuccini’s films, ‘Commedia’ and ‘Things And Other Things,’ which were both filmed in Italy.

Her latest role Cecily in ‘All Five Eyes’, will see her perform alongside Honor Swinton Byrne as sisters. The film is set to shoot in August 2024…

In 2014 she was short-listed as the Young Poet Laureate of London and her poetry has gone on to be acclaimed internationally.

In 2015 she co-founded the independent publishing press New River Press with her husband the artist Robert Montgomery. New River Press provides a platform for new work by young poets in London and beyond.

In 2020 the renowned US publisher Andrews McMeel published Greta's poetry collection ‘Tomorrow's Woman’ alongside a collection of feminist poetry she edited titled SMEAR. This saw her work reach a global audience and in the same year her ‘Selected Poems’ was translated into Spanish and published by Valapaiso Ediciones.

She released the activist documentary ‘The Safe House A Decline of Ideas’ in May 2016 with Curzon Home Cinema. The documentary was a love letter to public libraries and a heartfelt appeal against their closure.

Greta’s new poetry collection ‘Who Will Make The Fire’ will be published by Cheerio! the publishing company of The Estate of Francis Bacon in June 2024.
